仁山植物園

レンシャン植物園は、中央山脈の最北端にあります。海抜高度は約50から500メートルで、面積は約100ヘクタールあり、台湾の低海抜亜熱帯東北モンスーン雨林型の気候があります。北側は蘭陽平原と太平洋に面し、植物園の裏には新寮山と新旧寮滝があります。植物園は市内から遠くなく、交通が便利で、登山や休憩の施設が設けられており、人々がよく登山やハイキングを楽しんでいます。
宜蘭県庁は、植物園に多元的な機能を与えるため、2001年より、積極的に植物園の整備を始め、レジャー、生活、生態、教育を兼ねそろえた植物園へと発展させています。 現在、植物園は、主に次のエリアに分かれています。

• 東洋庭園植物展示エリア（唐風庭園、日本庭園、桜並木道など）
• 西洋庭園植物展示エリア（フランス式宮庭庭園、イギリス式自然庭園）
• 大航海外来植物展示エリア（アフリカ、オーストラリア、南米、南アジアの各コーナー）
• 低海抜森林産業エリア（樟脳寮、木炭窯、クスノキ林、ソウシ樹林）
• 緑化センター植物展示エリア（ツーリストサービスセンター、緑化教室、四季の花園広場、生垣植物デモコーナー、シダ植物展示温室）
• 迎賓入口イメージエリア（駐車場、シャトルバスバス停、入口イメージゲート、桐の花の林道、漢方薬植物コーナー、ハーブ植物コーナーなど）
• ジュラ紀森林保護エリア（林間体験歩道、森林観察圏、森林教室など）

Renshan Botanic Garden

Renshan botanic garden is located in north of the Central Mountain Range. Its elevation is about 50 to 500 meters, and the area is about 102 hectares. In the early days, the botanic garden was a nursery to produce young plants for forestation. Gradually, it became a nursery for nourishing plants used for the help of environmental greening and beautifying, when residents started paying attention to the beauty and green of environment. Because the garden was not far away from the city and was easily accessible, it became a good place for hiking and taking a rest. Since the year 2001, Yilan county government had been actively making arrangements for this garden, and thus forming different areas in the garden, such as Eastern garden plants exhibition (Tang style and Japanese style), Western garden plants exhibition (English style and French style), Big voyage foreign plants exhibition (African style, Australian style, South Asian style, South American style), and low elevation forestry exhibition (camphor hut and charcoal kiln), in an attempt to make it a botanic garden which has multiple functions of leisure, life, ecology, and education.

Life Resource

Renshan botanic garden is located in low elevation area in northeast Taiwan, and its landscape includes hillsides, crest lines, and humid valleys. Its vegetation belongs to the subtropical broadleaf forest, and its plants include advantageous species, such as Banyan, Tung-oil, Taiwan Acacia, and rare species, such as Casearia membranacea Hance and Climbing Entada. In the garden, there are almost 400 species of plants including 45 species of ferns. In May, when Tung-oil trees blossom, the garden’s main lane exhibits an poetic atmosphere, which often makes tourists linger.

In addition to plant resources, there are 11 species of mammals. On the main lane, a small group of the protective animal - Formosan rock monkeys can often be observed. In the forest there are also traces of Formosan Gem-faced Civets and pangolins. After resource investigation, among 81 species of birds, there includes more than 10 species of protective animals, such as fairy pitta, collard scops owl, Formosan blue magpie, grey-throated minivet, Maroon Oriole and others. Amphibians have 39 species including more than 10 species of protective animals, such as Taipei green tree frog, yellow-mouthed japalura, yellow-lined box turtle, banded krait, and others. Further, insect resources include 81 species of butterflies, 12 species of firefly and Rhinoceros beetle.

In conclusion, a variety of plant and forest resources and abundant life resources have made the Renshan botanic garden a representative of ecological system connecting Lanyang plain and hillsides. In order to provide tourists with different ecological observation experiences, there are many theme lanes in the garden.
